And it’s been 23 years since am a Hindu i.e. probably by the
birth. Very first I was quite a Hindu and followed every rituals which have
been taught by my parents. When you gradually grown up you start questing
everything when no one is there to answer your questions. Further, I was
started not to even belief in God. I am a believer, despite a period of
schoolboy atheist.
I am proud of the history of my faith in my own words. Every
morning, for longer than I can remember, I have begun my day with the prayers
which was learnt by me without even knowing what it states.
What is the meaning of `Hinduism’ ?
Hinduism is just an experience of a culture better say an
ancient culture which was in existence well before our born and is still here
and will remain even after decades of death.
The word `Hindu’ did not exist in
any Indian language till its use by foreigners gave Indians a term for
self-definitions. Hindu thoughts also makes a ritual out of the unknowability
of God. Hinduism is not just a religious it’s much more like a culture.
Some people says Hindus are the people who worship their God
but do not deny the existence of other gods. They respect other’s truth, and
expect others to respect their.
According Hinduism, God is everywhere and in everything we
know. God have no shape nor body and may have shape and do have body. God is
man or woman as per your own intelligence. God is human as well as animal. God
is not restricted to the human and can be experienced in stones, animals,
objects, plants, and even in water.
There are 3 primarily considered as God
i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahadev. Better example of the same is ten avataras of
Vishnu, remarkably known as Matsya
(the fish), Kurma (the tortoise), Varaha (the boar), Narasimha (the half man-half lion), Vamana (the dwarf), Parasurama,
Vamana, Shri Rama, Shri Krishna,
Buddha and the Kalki, who is yet to come on earth.
Hinduism provides us the four stages of whole life :
- Ashramas : It is the time to be spent learning and acquiring mastery over the essential disciplines needed to lead a meaningful life.
- Grihastha : The life of a householder, when one married, and executed the responsibilities of family.
- Vanaprastha : When one retired and retreated to the forest to lead a life of contemplation in harmony with nature.
- Sannyas: The stage of renunciation of all chores.
There are many sacred books in Hinduism, and basically
scriptures are commonly divided into Srutis, Smritis, Itihasas, Puranas, Agamas
and Darshanas.
The Srutis are
that which has been heard or revealed by rishis, codified by the sage Veda
Vyasa and passed down through generations of disciples. The four Vedas covered
are : Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur
Veda and Atharva Veda. Vedas are believed to have been created
between 1500 BCE and 500 BCE. There are 108
Upanishads, are also Sruti.
The Smritis are
that which are remembered and which are composed by human beings. The 18
Smritis, written between 300 BCE and 200 BCE, are often referred to as the Dharmashastras.
The Itihasas,
these are the history of human race. It describes The Ramayan the history of Shri Rama and The Mahabharata was told and
still retold. The Mahabharat incorporated the Bhagavad Gita, the song of the Lord by himself, which
address what humans beings should do when they pulled in contradictory
directions by equally important but incompatible obligations.
Hinduism has been destroyed by lots of human first by Mughal
Empire and later by British. The Hinduism we know today is filter by these two
empire. Let me tell you how.
Hinduism does not have. The Rig Veda does not mentioned caste in its original books and first
appears in the Purusha Sukta verse. As per the Book An Era of Darkness, India had castes, but not a caste system: the
rigidities of caste as we understand it
today were introduced by the British.
Whether you believe in God, The Ramayan or The Mahabharata
it is matter of believe, the thing is that whether you question the existence
of your forefathers.
It is not necessary you visit temple regularly or have
`Tilaak’ on forehead. Hinduism is a culture which can be followed just by
living your ordinary life and while executing your daily chores. It emphasis on
self realisation not god realisation.
Does god exist or not ?
- this is not the right
question.
The right question is this, have you reached the level to
experience the God ? - I said experience , not seen.
